The International Boxing Association has banned the United States from participating in its tournaments.

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has banned the United States Boxing Federation (USA Boxing) from participating in competitions under its auspices. This was reported on the website of the organization.

The IBA has stated that USA Boxing, including officials, coaches and boxers, is prohibited from having a relationship with the IBA. The reason was the decision of the Americans to withdraw from the organization. “The US decision has deprived the boxing community as a whole of the opportunity to compete together and raise the level of talent in the boxing family,” the association stressed.

On April 26, USA Boxing announced its withdrawal from the IBA due to the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to tournaments. In the USA, they specified that they intend to join an alternative IBA association – World Boxing.

On October 5, 2022, the IBA allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Athletes are allowed to compete under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
