ITA disqualifies nine Russian fighters for doping

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) disqualified nine Russian fighters for using prohibited substances. This was reported on the website of the organization.

The reason was the data received from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory. The suspension is valid for two years. The group included Daria Leksina, Elena Vostrikova, Margarita Fatkulina, Elena Getta, Anzhela Kataeva, Elena Kulikova, Alevtina Lisitsyna, Anastasia Shchavlinskaya and Alexey Shchekov.

On April 4, the executive committee of the United World Wrestling (UWW) decided to allow Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments. In a statement, the Federation of Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling said that the Russians would compete in a neutral status. It is noted that the athletes were admitted subject to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The UWW suspended Russian athletes on March 2 last year. In addition, the tournaments that were supposed to be held in Russia in 2022 were canceled. The same sanctions were imposed on Belarus.
