Newly retired, Mandzukic joins the Croatian national team’s coaching staff

After ending his playing career in September this year, Mario Mandzukic joined Croatia’s coaching staff. Along with coach Zlatko Dalic, the former player became the commander’s assistant.

For Croatia, Mandzukic has 89 matches played and 33 goals scored, in addition to being runner-up in the world in 2018, when he was still playing for Milan.

“Thanks to coach Dalic and president Kustic for their confidence. We really agreed with the cooperation, and I’m extremely excited. I know how much the national team has meant to me as a player and I want to pass on this passion, my experience,” said Mandzukic, to the website official selection.

“I am very happy that Mario is with us. Speaking with him, I was convinced of how dedicated, interested and willing he is to help. I think your exceptional experience will be very helpful. It is a valuable addition to the team”, declared coach Zlatko Dalic.

The team that Mandzukic played the most was Juventus. In the team, he scored 44 goals in 162 games, being four-time Italian champion. He also stood out at Bayern Munich, where he scored 48 goals in 88 games, including one in the 2013 Champions League final.

He also played for Atlético Madrid, Dinamo Zagreb, Wolfsburg and Al-Duhail. Milan, where he only played 11 times, was the last team in his career.
