USA Boxing announced its withdrawal from the IBA due to the admission of Russians to tournaments
The United States Boxing Federation (USA Boxing) on its official website announced its withdrawal from the International Boxing Federation (IBA) due to the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to tournaments.
In the USA, they specified that they intend to join an alternative IBA association – World Boxing. The Americans will also support efforts to obtain provisional recognition for the organization as the International Boxing Federation.
On April 13, Inside the Games reported that the national boxing federations of Germany, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Sweden would form World Boxing. The IBA called this organization fraudulent.
On October 5, 2022, the IBA allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Athletes are allowed to compete under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
