Vini Jr. scores, but Real Madrid loses to Girona and remains distant from leaders Barcelona

O Real Madrid visited Girona this Tuesday afternoon and was defeated by 4 to 2, remaining far from the leadership of the spanish league. The advantage of Barcelona at the top of the competition, therefore, it continues to be eleven points.

That distance could still increase if Barça wins their match this Wednesday, against Rayo Vallecano, at 5 pm (Brasília time). In case of victory, the Catalan team can open 14 points at the top with less than eight rounds to the end of the tournament.

Tuesday’s game was busy. The Brazilian Vinicius Júnior even scored a goal, but was no match for the Argentine Taty Castellanos, former dream of the palm trees, which was on an inspired night. The top scorer in the match scored no less than four times.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team still suffered a last-minute absence: Courtois. The goalkeeper had a problem during the warm-up and was replaced by the Ukrainian Lunin. Frenchman Karim Benzema was also preserved.

Far from the Spanish title, Real Madrid is preparing to seek rehabilitation in La Liga. The team returns to the field to face Almería this Saturday, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Santiago Bernabéu.

How was the game?

Real already scared with less than a minute on the clock, in Rodrygo’s kick. The Brazilian received it from Modric inside the small area and tried hard, but the ball deflected off the marker and went close to the crossbar. At five, it was the team’s turn to reach Valverde’s cross finish, but Gazzaniga spread it out.

At 11, Girona opened the scoring with Taty Castellanos. The team exchanged passes on the left until the cross was just right for the attacker, who placed his head in the back of the net.

Rodrygo tried to respond at 22 minutes, after a beautiful play by Vinicius Junior, but isolated. In the next minute, Castellanos won a dispute with Militão and scored the second, touching Lunin’s exit.

Vinicius Jr. scored in favor of Real in the 33rd minute, with a header. Asensio crossed for the attacker, who completed it inside the small area. After some fouls suffered, Vini got irritated and even argued with a rival player, receiving a yellow card.

The teams had barely returned from the changing rooms and Girona scored the third, again with Castellanos. The Argentine received a cross from Yan Couto and, at first, increased the advantage of the home team.

At 16, he, once again, made Girona’s fourth. Unmarked, Castellanos received an accurate launch coming from the right and headed towards the goal. There was still time for Real to reduce with Lucas Vásquez, in the 39th minute. Vini Jr. went to the bottom line and played low for the Spaniard, who just rolled into the net.
