Swimmer Kirpichnikova said that the change of citizenship to French added motivation
European short course swimming champion Anastasia Kirpichnikova explained the decision to change sports citizenship from Russian to French. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
“It became very difficult. I cried a lot, I had no motivation. I made a decision – something needs to be changed, because it is not known how long all this will be, ”said the athlete. She shared that now she felt better and more motivated. Kirpichnikova expressed her hope that other athletes would understand her decision.
The change of Kirpichnikova’s sports citizenship became known on April 21. She has been training in France for five years. The swimmer has a chance to take part in the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games as part of the European team.
22-year-old Kirpichnikova is a three-time European champion in short course swimming. She also has a World Championship silver medal to her credit.
