Hockey player of the Czech national team Dmitry Yashkin explained the transition to SKA with the ambitions of the club
Forward SKA and the Czech national team Dmitry Yashkin explained the decision to return to performances in Russia. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.
The 29-year-old striker noted that SKA has a powerful squad and an experienced coaching staff. He stressed that the club has serious ambitions. Yashkin added that his choice was also influenced by the fact that St. Petersburg is located not far from Moscow. “You can always easily and quickly get there. This is rather a secondary factor, but in terms of the sum of all the components, the offer from the army turned out to be the most attractive, ”he said.
On July 28, Yashkin admitted that he intended to continue his career in the National Hockey League (NHL), but decided to opt for the Russian club. He moved to SKA on 25 July.
Yashkin played in the NHL last season. As part of the Arizona Coyotes, he played 12 games and scored one assist. Before that, he had already played in the KHL, representing Dynamo Moscow from 2019 to 2021.
