Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the actions of the Lithuanian authorities, who deprived the skaters Margarita Drobyazko and Povilas Vanagas of state awards for participating in Tatyana Navka’s ice show in Sochi. It is reported by TASS.

The specialist called the decision of the Lithuanian authorities crazy, drawing attention to the fact that for Drozyabko and Vanagas, ice shows in Russia are the only source of income. “There is no such work in Lithuania,” she noted.

Earlier it became known that Drozyabko and Vanagas were deprived of state awards. According to the president of the republic, Gitanas Nauseda, the sportsmen’s performances in Russia crossed out all their merits to the country. In 2000, the couple won bronze at the World Championships in ice dancing, for which they were awarded the Knight’s Crosses of the Order of Gediminas.

Drobiazko and Vanagas have represented Lithuania at the Olympics five times. They took the citizenship of the country after the collapse of the USSR.

In July, Ukrainian figure skater Viktor Petrenko was expelled from the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation for participating in the Navka show. In addition, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky deprived the 1992 Olympic champion of the scholarship.
