By the 31st round of the Italian ChampionshipRoma visited Atalanta at the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia stadium and lost by 3 to 1. Pasalic, Rafael Tolói and Koopmeiners scored the goals for the home team, while Pellegrini reduced the scoreboard due to this Monday.
With the defeat, the Roma missed the chance to extend its advantage over its competitors in the race for a place in the next Champions League. In fourth place, the team has 56 points, the same score as fifth place Mlian. The next game for José Mourinho’s men is precisely against the rival, on Saturday.
Atalanta, on the other hand, remained in seventh place, but approached the clubs that fight for classification in European competitions. The team has 52 points, two less than sixth-placed Inter. The Italians will also return to the field on Saturday, against Torino.

The game
In a first half of little inspiration for the two teams, the only clear chance ended up in the back of the net. In the 39th minute, Atalanta went on the attack with Zapata, who made a play on the left and crossed for Pasalic. The Croatian completed first and opened the scoring of the match.
In the second half, Roma had the ball more and even tried to react, but it was Atalanta who scored again. After a corner kick, Palomino headed in and forced Rui Patrício to spread his palm towards the middle of the area. On the rebound, Tolói finished for the goal and extended the home team’s advantage in the 29th minute.
The visitors even managed to score in the 38th minute, when Pellegrini received the ball from Belotti on the counterattack and finished it in the right corner. However, in the next minute, goalkeeper Ruí Patrício failed badly and dropped the ball at the feet of Koopmeiners, who took advantage and closed the scoreboard for Atalanta.
