The telephone scammer, whose victims were professional athletes and trainer Edgard Zapashny, turned out to be a former footballer from Ossetia Taimuraz Karatsev. This is reported by the Telegram channel Mash.
The swindler was able to detain with the help of tennis player Mikhail Youzhny. He arranged to transfer the money at the office where the police were waiting for the ex-football player.
For the first time it became known about the swindler in April 2020. Zapashny said that he was deceived with money by telephone scammers. WhatsApp received a message from an unknown number allegedly from a fighter of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Alexei Oleinik, who asked for a loan of 50 thousand rubles. Later, Zapashny contacted Oleinik and found out that he had become a victim of a swindler.
Basketball players Kyle Hines and Semyon Antonov, football player Ilie Cebanu, karate coach Sergei Dyachkov and midfielders of Moscow football clubs Alsu Abdullina and Yulia Bessonova also became victims of the fraudster. Karatsev wrote on behalf of their friends and asked for a loan from 5 to 75 thousand rubles.
