The Bidaideak Bilbao BSR was proclaimed champion of the Wheelchair Basketball Cup this Sunday April 23 after win the final against Amiab Albacete by 72-80. Thus, the Bilbao team revalidated the title achieved last year.
The first quarter was even. Bidaideak was the one that broke the tie after overcoming the initial six minutes and achieved a six-point lead (11-17). However, Albacete played better in the final minutes, and managed to end the first ten minutes with a tie on the scoreboard. (19-19).
Bidaideak entered the second quarter well and obtained a four-point lead (19-23), but Amiab Albacete reacted quickly and took the lead on the scoreboard (24-23). Albacete’s response did not intimidate a team from Bilbao that knew how to rebuild itself. Thus, Bidaideak reached the middle of the quarter with a favorable score (25-30). Little by little, the Biscayan team was showing superiority on the field and went to rest with the result of 27-39 in his favor.
After the break, Bidaideak continued to dominate and the Bilbao team opened a 13-point gap (36-49). It seemed that everything was decided, but the Biscayan team relaxed excessively, and Albacete took advantage of the circumstance to close the gap.
