Spanish newspaper praises Endrick’s debut in the Libertadores: “Ace plays”

In addition to being the first victory of the palm trees in this Libertadores, the duel this Thursday against Cerro Porteño it marked Endrick’s debut in the competition. At the age of 16, the striker entered the field in the second half of the match and caught the attention of the international media.

The Spanish newspaper Marca highlighted the performance of the “jewel”, despite not having rocked the nets. Already negotiated with Real Madrid, Endrick will wear the shirt of the merengue team from 2024, when he becomes of age. Until then, the attacker will be stoned at Palmeiras.

“Fearless, relaxed, loose and participatory,” wrote Marca in praising Endrick’s stance against Cerro Porteño. The newspaper also pointed out that coach Abel Ferreira did not choose the striker as a starter, since the game “required a physical imposition”.

Endrick came off the bench 10 minutes into the second half, replacing Jhon Jhon. Palmeiras lost from 1 to 0 Paraguayan opponent, in Morumbi. Alongside Rafael Navarro in attack, Endrick infiltrated the middle of the defenders inside the area and circled the left wing in search of space.

At 19 minutes of the final stretch, Gustavo Gómez tied the match. 12 minutes later, Navarro had the leftover under the crossbar and scored the turnaround goal. Endrick had opportunities to pull counterattacks, but ended up wasting them.

“Endrick is growing, learning from mistakes and looking for his best version. And you can see that. He always watches the position of his teammates and strategically looks for spaces”, added the Spanish newspaper.

This season, the young striker has already scored three goals and provided an assist in 17 matches. Endrick started 12 games, including the second leg of the Paulista championship against Água Santa, when he scored one of the goals in the 4-0 defeat.
