Defender Sergio Ramos, from Paris Saint Germain, suffered a lot of injuries last season and failed to establish himself in the French team. Since arriving in July 2021, the Spaniard has been out of 33 games for not being physically well.
Now, however, Sergio Ramos is back and seems to have recovered. When asked about his physical shape, the player said he was satisfied.
“I feel like I’m in good shape. I feel good physically after a solid pre-season where I put a lot of effort, dedication and time into getting in shape. We started the season by winning a title and I was able to not only play but also play in good level, but also scoring a goal, which is always very special. I’m very happy and I think this season is going to be exciting”, he commented.
This season, PSG is under a new coach. Frenchman Christophe Galtier took over the team after the resignation of Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, who was at the head of the squad for a year and a half. One of the changes brought by the new coach is the use of three defenders. Sergio Ramos praised the new system and said he believed it would work.
“It’s been a while since I played with three central defenders, with my last clubs and national team, but I adapt to everything. I also think it’s an advantage to play with three defenders, because it gives you solidity, stability and a good balance in defense. This allows attackers to feel more secure with counterattacks, so they can come back more slowly. In general terms, I think that little by little we are getting to know each other. I think it’s a system that will work very well for us and I am honored to be part of this team”, explained the player, Real Madrid idol.
On PSG’s debut in the French ChampionshipSergio Ramos preached respect to opponents, but did not fail to show confidence.
“I think that every team that plays against Paris sees a good opportunity to stand out. It is up to us to show the utmost respect for our opponents. We know that if we enter the field relaxed, the match will be much more difficult for them. give the respect that each opponent deserves. On Saturday, we will play the first match of the season against a team that wants to win at home. We have to focus on doing things well and we hope, of course, that we will win”, he projected.
Paris Saint-Gemain will debut in Ligue 1 this Saturday against Clermont. The ball rolls at 16:00 (Brasília time), at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied.
