Barcelona’s plan to return Messi to the club revealed

Diario Sport: Messi can be registered in La Liga with a salary of 25 million euros per year

The plan of the Barcelona leadership to return Argentine striker Lionel Messi to the club has become known. It is reported by Diario Sport.

According to the publication, in order to sign Messi, the Catalan club will have to reduce the salary fund and sell several players. To comply with financial fair play, the striker can be registered in La Liga with a salary of 25 million euros per year before taxes. It is specified that this amount is four times less than the salary that the Argentine had in the team earlier. In the 2020/2021 season, he received 100 million euros per year in accordance with the contract.

On April 13, Catalunya Radio reported that Messi intends to return to Barcelona and communicates on this subject with the team’s head coach Xavi. A day later, journalist Fabrizio Romano said that in May 2023 it would become clear whether the Catalan club would violate the financial fair play if Messi was signed.

Messi signed a contract with PSG in August 2021, it runs until June 2023 with the option of a one-season extension. Prior to that, the striker played for Barcelona throughout his career, in which he won the Spanish championship ten times and won the Champions League four times.
