Josiah Zakszewski was disqualified for running part of the marathon in a car

Joasia Zakszewski, a Scottish ultramarathon record holder, has been disqualified for breaking the rules during the 80km marathon from Manchester to Liverpool. It is reported by Sky News.

The 47-year-old runner finished third. However, after the completion of the race, it turned out that she had traveled one of the four-kilometer sections of the route by car. It is noted that before the start of the marathon, Zakszewski felt unwell and wanted to withdraw, because a few hours before the start she returned to the UK from a trip to Australia.

It is specified that the athlete pleaded guilty and revealed the details of what happened in a conversation with the organizers of the tournament. Her case was transferred to the British Athletics Federation (UK Athletics).

Zakszewski set a world record in the ultramarathon during the Taipei Run in Taiwan in February 2022. She was the fastest in the world to cover a distance of 410 kilometers.
