World champion Alexander Bolshunov joined the Russian national team at the first stage of the World Cup in the Finnish town of Ruka. This was reported on the website of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation (FLGR).
In addition to Bolshunov, Russians Gleb Retivykh, Alexander Terentyev, Sergey Ustyugov, Sergey Ardashev, Denis Filimonov, Andrey Larkov, Artem Maltsev, Evgeny Belov, Ilya Semikov, Ivan Yakimushkin, Alexey Chervotkin and Alexander Bessmertnykh will take part in the competition. The World Cup stage will be held from 26 to 28 November.
Bolshunov said on November 14 that he was not training at full strength because of the operation on the jaw that had been postponed in October. It was originally planned that the Russian will be able to return to full preparation for the season in ten days.
Bolshunov is the current owner of the World Cup. The 24-year-old Russian also became the first in the competition the season before last.
