Ukrainian Olympic champion Baiul called on the IOC to prevent Russians from participating in the 2024 Games
Ukrainian figure skater, 1994 Olympic champion in women’s singles Oksana Baiul Twitter appealed to the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach because of the admission of Russian athletes to tournaments.
Baiul said that Ukrainians do not want Russian athletes to take part in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, even in a neutral status. “Help us,” she said.
On January 26, the head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, said that the national team could miss the 2024 Olympics if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it. Earlier, the IOC noted that they are considering the possibility of individual admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to competitions.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
