Mallorca beats Celta away from home and climbs the Spanish table

This Monday, Celta de Vigo received Mallorca, at the Abanca-Balaídos Stadium. The match was valid for the 29th round of the Spanish Championship and ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors, thanks to a goal scored by Diedhiou.

With the result, Mallorca went to 37 points and now occupies 11th place in the table. The team welcomes Getafe in their next match. Celta, in turn, has 36 points and is 12th in the league – in the next round, the team from Vigo will visit Real Madrid.

From the first minutes, the home team tried to dominate possession of the ball and seek victory. However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring with Senegalese Diedhiou. After a confusion in the area, the attacker appeared to push the ball into the net. Celta even had chances to draw in the first stage, but failed to overcome the opposing goalkeeper.

In the second half, Mallorca, in advantage on the scoreboard, started to defend more. Even with the support of their fans, Celta was unable to pressure the visitors as they would have liked. At the end of the match, lateral Hugo Mallo still received the red card, which made the search for the equalizing goal even more difficult.
