The head coach of “Astrakhanochka” Alexey Alekseev said in an interview with “Championship” that everyone in the team is in shock. “Absolutely no one understands what could have happened. Back at 11 am, she threw off her friends photos of how she bought herself a new cat. And at 2 p.m. she was gone. No one understands what happened from 11 am to 1 pm,” he added.
Earlier, the Russian Handball Federation (FGR) announced the death of an athlete. The reason for the incident was not specified.
Divak is a three-time Russian champion with Dynamo-Sinara. The point guard is also known for playing for Kuban, Astrakhanochka, which she transferred to in 2021, the German Halle-Neustadt, the French Achenheim Truchtersheim and the Belarusian Gomel. In 2009, together with the Russian junior team, Divak won the European Championship.
