“Notebook Astrakhan”: 29-year-old handball player Divak died after falling from the eighth floor
The cause of death of 29-year-old point guard of the Astrakhanochka handball club Victoria Divak has been named, writes the Astrakhan Notebook newspaper.
The press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Astrakhan region published a statement on the afternoon of April 17 that an unknown girl fell from the eighth floor of a residential building and died on the spot from her injuries. A source close to the situation confirmed that Divak was the deceased. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating.
Earlier, the Russian Handball Federation (FGR) announced the death of an athlete. The reason for the incident was not specified.
Divak is a three-time Russian champion with Dynamo-Sinara. The point guard is also known for playing for Kuban, Astrakhanochka, which she transferred to in 2021, the German Halle-Neustadt, the French Achenheim Truchtersheim and the Belarusian Gomel. In 2009, together with the Russian junior team, Divak won the European Championship.
