Lazio striker Ciro Immobile suffers car accident and fractured rib

This Sunday, Lazio announced in a statement that striker Ciro Immobile suffered a car accident in Rome and had to be hospitalized. The player was diagnosed with spinal distension trauma and an exposed fracture of the right rib.

“The SS Lazio medical team informs that, today, following a road accident, the footballer Ciro Immobile suffered a spinal distortion trauma and an exposed fracture of the right rib. The condition is currently good. The player remains under observation in the department of emergency medicine headed by Professor Francesco Franceschi of the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Hospital in Rome,” the club wrote.

According to Gazzeta Dello Sport, the striker Italian selection was driving his car which collided with a public tram. The collision caused extensive damage to the SUV Immobile was driving, but the player’s daughters who were in the back seat were not seriously injured.

“The tram went through the red light. Fortunately I’m fine, my arm only hurts a little”, said Ciro Immobile.

The striker’s recovery time was not disclosed, but he should be absent in the team’s next games in Italian Championship. Lazio occupies the vice-leadership of Serie A, with 61 points.
