This Sunday afternoon, Union Berlin received Bochum for the 28th round of the German Championshipat the An der Alten Försterei stadium, in Berlin (ALE), and drew 1-1. In a beautiful free kick, Josip Juranovic opened the scoring for the hosts, but Kevin Stoger, from the penalty spot, left everything the same.
Thus, the team from the German capital bitter the second straight match without victory in the competition and wastes the chance to approach the leaders in the dispute for the title. With the result, the team takes third place, with 52 points, but is five behind Borussia Dortmund and seven behind Bayern Munich.
Likewise, Bochum is also experiencing a streak without triumphs in the national championship – two draws and one defeat – and loses the chance to move further away from the relegation zone. The club is in 15th place, with 27 points, just three ahead of Z3.
In the next round, therefore, Union Berlin will visit Borussia Monchengladbach, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time) on Sunday (23), at the Borussia-Park stadium, in Monchengladbach (ALE). The previous morning, starting at 10:30 am, Bochum will host Wolfsburg, at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, in Bochum (ALE).
Union Berlin and Bochum goals
Seeking to win to continue fighting for the title, Union Berlin went on the attack and put danger in the opponent’s goal. First, at two minutes, with Danilho Doekhi. Then, Kevin Behrens headed the left of the post at 20. Already at 30, it was Sheraldo Becker’s turn to waste the chance and, seven minutes later, Jerome Roussillon hit the crossbar.
However, the hosts continued on top and, in stoppage time, in the 47th minute of the first half, Croatian winger Josip Juranovic took a perfectly free-kick and hit goalkeeper Manuel Riemann’s angle to finally open the scoring and raise the crowd present in Berlin.
On the way back from the break, Bochum needed ten minutes to tie the match. After a cross in the area, Ivan Ordets was kicked by Aissa Laidouni at the time of dominance. The referee then awarded the penalty with conviction. Kevin Stoger went to the penalty spot and, safely, hitting the middle of the goal, left everything the same.
Union Berlin’s life got even more complicated at 16 of the additional stage, when Paul Jaeckel received the second yellow card and was expelled from the field, leaving his team with ten players.
However, the home team were not shaken and even managed to score three minutes later, but Kevin Behrens was in an irregular position and the offside was called, nullifying what would be the team’s second goal in the game.
