Tarasova said that Russian athletes will not pay attention to Zelensky’s sanctions
Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the sanctions imposed by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky against Russian athletes. Her words are quoted by TASS.
The specialist said that domestic athletes should not pay attention to the decision of the Ukrainian side. “What, someone was going to go to Ukraine? The office writes … we are not going there, ”she emphasized.
Zelensky imposed sanctions against Russian athletes on April 15. Among them are figure skating coach and choreographer Ilya Averbukh, Moscow CSKA footballer Igor Akinfeev, figure skaters Nikita Katsalapov, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, gymnasts Artur Dalaloyan and Svetlana Khorkina, skier Veronika Stepanova. According to the document, the restrictive measures will be in effect for 50 years.
On April 14, the Ministry of Sports of Ukraine banned Ukrainian athletes from participating in competitions with Russians and Belarusians. In response, the International Olympic Committee said that the Ukrainian government does not have the right to decide which athletes can participate in international competitions.
