Sevilla draws against Alavés and guarantees provisional leadership of Espanyol

Sevilla received Alavés this Saturday, for the 14th round of the Spanish Championship, and wasted the chance to take the top of the table. By the score of 2 to 2, the home team got the provisional lead, with 28 points. Alavés, who now has 14 points, is in 14th place.

In the next round, Sevilla visit Real Madrid at 17:00 (GMT) on the 28th. Alavés will host Celta de Vigo next Saturday, at 10:00.

The game – After just four minutes, the visitors opened the scoring. After taking a corner kick, Victor Laguardia went up on the second floor and hit a right header to put Alavés ahead.

At 37, after a fine work on the ball, Sevilla tied the score. The opposing defense did nothing and, after a great pass by Gonzalo Montiel, Lucas Ocampos was free in the area, sending it to the back of the net.

In extra time, Alavés found a penalty to stay ahead again. After the referee talked to the VAR and validated the charge, Joselu didn’t waste it.

In the second stage the game was tepid, but Sevilla had bigger chances created. In stoppage time, with a kick and the goalkeeper’s counterfoot, Rakitic tied the score.
