Pogba returns to Juventus after a month away from injury

Frenchman Paul Pogba, after another month on the sidelines due to a muscle injury, returned to the squad of Juventus and will be able to play this Thursday the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Europa League against Sporting Lisbon, said his coach this Wednesday.

“He’s been listed, we’ll see tomorrow (Thursday) if he can play,” Massimiliano Allegri told a news conference.

“It is important that he has had some training sessions with the team without having to stop. If we can bring him back for the end of the season it will be very important,” he added.

Pogba injured his adductor muscle in mid-March, which forced him to stop again after having already spent much of the current season on the sidelines. He missed the entire start of the season with a right knee injury, for which he underwent surgery in September, which kept him out of the Qatar World Cup with France.

Allegri also assured that he has Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has been lacking confidence lately, and Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes, with whom he had a heated argument on Monday, according to the Italian press.

“It was just a discussion,” said Allegri to downplay the incident with Paredes, who has had few minutes and was initially expected to return to Paris Saint-Germain when his current loan spell with Juventus ends.

“I understand that you can be a little nervous because of the frustration of a player who plays little, that’s normal. I make my decisions for the good of the team. I have confidence in everyone I have at my disposal and I’m also happy that he reacted, that means that he wants to do things well”, concluded the coach.
