Olympic champions from Canada Duhamel and Virtue banned from entering Russia
The Russian Foreign Ministry has banned Canadian figure skaters Megan Duhamel and Tessa Virtue from entering the country. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
Olympic champions and winners of the world championships were included in the list of 333 Canadian citizens who are subject to such sanctions. The decision was made by the Russian Ministry in response to the sanctions of the Canadian side.
Earlier, Ottawa expanded sanctions against Russia. It is noted that the restrictions affected 14 individuals and 34 legal entities, including those associated with the private military company (PMC) Wagner.
Tessa Virtue is a three-time Olympic champion in ice dancing. The same number of times she won the gold of the World Championship. Megan Duhamel in pair skating took one gold at the Olympic Games and became the world champion twice.
