President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe named reasons for foreign skiers to envy the Russians. Her words are quoted by TASS.
“Our athletes are now studying Mother Russia, its unlimited possibilities. And rivals from abroad can only envy, ”Vyalba said. She drew attention to the fact that the Russian Cup final was held in excellent conditions, as the ski run in April remains in good condition, in contrast to the conditions in Europe.
On April 11, Vyalbe assessed the possible performance of domestic athletes in tournaments on the terms of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She called the Russians traitors who agree to act under a neutral flag.
Russian skiers miss international starts due to sanctions from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). Skiers were suspended for the first time in March 2022.
