Promoter Hearn expressed hope that the fight between Beterbiev and Smith will take place before the end of July

“Obviously we would love to have this fight in Liverpool. There is also interest in the Middle East. I hope the fight will take place before the end of July,” said Hearn. On January 29, Beterbiev defeated British Anthony Yarde by technical knockout in the eighth round. He defended three world titles in the light heavyweight category: according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO).
In total, the 38-year-old Russian won 19 victories in his career and did not suffer a single defeat. The 32-year-old Smith has 29 wins and one defeat.
