The Board of Directors of the International Basque Pelota Federation (FIPV) agreed this Monday, April 10, at the request of its president, Xavier Cazaubónconvene an Extraordinary Assembly in the next 90 days, in order to “propose the change of statutes” of the entity due to the “Request for integration of the Basque Pelota Federation of Euskadi”.
This is reflected in the minutes, signed by the president himself, made public by the International Federation in his web page and on his official Facebook account.
If the said request is accepted, the Basque Federation would cease to be part of the Spanish Ball Federation and would become the 34th federation to be part of the FIPVtogether with those of Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, China, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, the Philippines, France, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, India, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama , Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Togo, Uruguay and Venezuela.
It should be remembered that the new Sports Law, approved on December 22 by the Congress of Deputies, authorizes the Basque teams “of sports with historical and social roots” to compete internationally, a circumstance that would affect the Basque ball team.
