With passages through traditional clubs in Argentina, such as Defensa y Justicia, Godoy Cruz, Independiente, Lanús and San Lorenzo, Almirón returns to the country after a quick spell at Elche, a team that appears in the last position of the Spanish Championship, with only 13 points in 27 games.
The 51-year-old coach arrives with the aim of rebuilding Boca in the Argentine Championship. The team currently occupies the 12th position of the competition, having won only one of its last five games, a campaign well below the history of the club that has already beaten the Argentine in 29 opportunities.

The poor performance in the national tournament contrasts with a good campaign by the rival River Platewho lead Argentina with 24 points, having won eight of their ten league games.
The arrival of Jorge Almirón also has the objective of making Boca Juniors manage to correct its course in the season right at the beginning of liberators. Last Thursday, in his debut in the continental tournament, the team held a goalless draw with Monagas-VEN.
The Argentines return to the field this Wednesday, at 5:30 pm (Brasília time), against San Lorenzo, at Pedro Bidegain Stadium, in a match valid for the 11th round of the Argentine Championship.
