Benfica turns the game against Paços de Ferreira and advances in the Portuguese Cup

After taking a scare at the beginning of the second stage, Benfica defeated Paços de Ferreira by 4-1 this Friday and ensured their classification in the Cup of Portugal.

Benfica showed more collective play and quality in the exchanges of passes than their opponent and managed to spend more time on the ball in the first half. Even so, attacking actions were few and Jorge Jesus’ team didn’t get the lead before the break.

Paços de Ferreira returned threatening the goal and opened the scoring after six minutes, with the young Nuno Santos. Benfica needed to attack and pressured the visitors in search of a draw. In the 32nd minute, Alejandro Grimaldo got the goal to equalize the score. Four minutes later, Seferovic put Benfica ahead. Rafa Silva in the 41st minute and Everton in the 48th minute turned the victory into a rout.
