With Brazil’s victory over Uruguay and a draw between Ecuador and Chile in the fifth and final match of Group A, Verdeamarelha, Red and Tricolor advanced to the final hexagon of the South American U-17 Championship.
Brazil dominated the region with 10 points, followed by Chile with 7 and Ecuador with 5. Uruguay was left out with 4 units and Colombia with one point.
Brazil beat all the teams, except Ecuador, who drew the match on the first day. It was 2-2.
La Tricolor will now seek their fourth World Cup qualification ticket, which they achieved in the 2011, 2015 and 2019 editions. They also played in the FIFA World Cup, in the under-17 category in 1995, but then as the host country.
The final hexagonal will take place at the Olímpico Atahualpa and Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadiums, both in Quito.
Four spots will be up for grabs for the 2023 World Cup when the ball rolls in the capital.
