Brazil beats Uruguay and guarantees the leadership of Group A in the South American sub-17

For the fifth, and last, round of the first phase of the sub-17 South American Championship, the Brazilian Team faced Uruguay, on Friday night, at the George Capwell Stadium, in Guayaquil (EQU), and won by 3 to 0. Thus, Brazil, which had already qualified for the final hexagonal in the last round, ends this stage of the competition in the lead of Group A, with ten points gained in four matches. On the other hand, the Uruguayans were in fourth place, with four goals, and failed to qualify.

Now, the team coached by Phelipe Leal awaits the definition of the first opponent of the hexagonal final, which takes place this Saturday – they face the third place in Group B, which could be Venezuela or Paraguay. The return of Amarelinha to the field is scheduled for next Tuesday, with no set time yet.

In addition to the Brazilian national team, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay and Venezuela also advanced. The top four in the U-17 South American qualify for the category’s World Cup.

Brazil’s goal against Uruguay

After the first half in which both teams failed to score, Brazil opened the scoring in the second half. At 20 minutes, Rayan received a cross from Chermont inside the area, dominated and kicked between the legs of goalkeeper Martin Almeida, who accepted.

In the 38th minute, Lorran received a deep pass, passed the defender, dribbled past the Uruguayan archer and just had to play into the empty net.

Finally, at 45 minutes, Ricardo Mathias made a beautiful pass between the Uruguay defense and found Matheus Reis infiltrating through the center. The number 21 also dribbled Martin Almeida to give final numbers to the confrontation.
