Petersburg SKA forward Nikita Gusev was suspended from matches due to alcohol addiction. It is reported by “Match TV”.
According to the publication, the 30-year-old striker will not take part in the fourth match of the final of the Western Conference of the Continental Hockey League (KHL). The hockey player was removed from the main team due to addiction related to drinking beer. It is specified that for this reason the athlete missed several matches of the Russian national hockey team during the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
On April 6, CSKA beat SKA with a score of 4:0 in the third match of the semi-finals of the KHL playoffs. At the moment, in a series of up to four victories with a score of 2:1, the Moscow club is leading. The next game will be on April 8th.
Gusev is the 2018 Olympic champion and winner of the Gagarin Cup with SKA. The athlete returned to the St. Petersburg team in 2021 after spending two seasons in the National Hockey League, playing for the New Jersey Devils and Florida Panthers.
