The Brazilian team will end 2021 in second place in the FIFA selection ranking, updated this Friday after the last window of international games. Belgium leads and France comes third.
Since 2018, the team led by Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard (with 1,828.45 points) has reached the end of the year at the top of the ranking.
The Belgians secured the leading position after the Brazilians drew 0-0 with Argentina (for the South American qualifiers for the World Cup), running out of points needed to take the lead.
The French, who are classified for the World Cup in Qatar, are in third position with 1,786.15 points.
The top 10 teams have not changed from the previous list, with the exception of the Netherlands, which took advantage of Mexico’s bad moment, with two defeats in the last two games, to be in tenth place.
Italy, meanwhile, have dropped two places and are now sixth, having finished second in their group at the 2022 European Cup qualifiers, now having to participate in a play-off for (knockout tournament) to try the classification for Qatar.
