Short track skater Prosvirnova said that the salary in the Danish national team cannot be compared with the Russian one
Russian short track skater Sofia Prosvirnova spoke about the difficulties in moving to the Danish national team. Her words are quoted by Sports.ru.
“In the first year, they won’t pay me anything at all. And then, if they see the potential, something will rely on. Although this cannot be compared with scholarships in Russia, ”Prosvirnova compared the payments. She added that she herself will look for sponsors for a trip to the training camp in the United States.

Prosvirnova called the regulations of the International Skating Union (ISU) the main obstacle to changing the flag. “To change sports citizenship, you need to live for a year in the country you are going to play for and have a residence permit (permit). But because of traveling, I didn’t live for a year, and I don’t have a residence permit yet, ”the athlete explained. She expressed her hope that in her situation, the ISU leadership would take advantage of an exception to the rule. Otherwise, the short tracker will miss the 2023/2024 season.
Prosvirnova announced the transfer to the Danish national team on April 4. She noted that she made this decision for family reasons, since the training system in the Russian team forces her to be away from her husband, Danish skater Viktor Torup.
Prosvirnova is a silver and bronze medalist of the world championships, as well as a five-time European champion. As part of the Russian national team, she took part in the Olympic Games in 2014, 2018 and 2022.
