Russian chess player Alexandra Goryachkina wins the FIDE Grand Prix in New Delhi
Russian chess player Alexandra Goryachkina won the third stage of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Grand Prix among women. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The competition was held in New Delhi from March 24 to April 5. The Russian woman, along with the Chinese Zhu Jin’er and the representative of Kazakhstan, Bibisara Assaubayeva, scored six points each and won by additional indicators. She will receive 37 thousand euros in prize money and 400 points in the Grand Prix series.
The Grand Prix series consists of four tournaments. The two best chess players at the end of the series will go to the Candidates Tournament.
FIDE allowed Russian and Belarusian chess players to compete in international competitions under a neutral flag until January 1, 2024. It is noted that after the expiration of this period, athletes will be returned the right to compete under the flag of their country if no other decision is made before that.
