Trainer Jose Benavides accuses boxing champion Saul Alvarez of drunkenness

Coach Jose Benavidez in an interview with the YouTube channel FightHype.com accused world boxing champion Saul Alvarez of drunkenness.

“Saul has been a pro since he was 16. This means that his body is worn out by endless fights, injuries and training camps. He used to be very disciplined, worked hard in the gym, but now he drinks more and more often, ”he said.

Benavidez noted that Alvarez had never been seen drunk before, but this is no longer the case. The coach suggested that the Mexican had lost his former interest in boxing.

Alvarez had his last fight in September 2022 against Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin. The Mexican won by unanimous decision and defended the championship belts in four versions: the World Boxing Association (WBA Super), the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO) in the super middleweight division.

In total, Alvarez spent 62 fights in his career, in which he won 58 victories and suffered two defeats. Two more fights ended in a draw.
