As for the Italian Cup, Viola, who entered the tournament in the round of 16, went through Sampdoria, after winning by 1-0. In the quarter-finals, they beat Torino by 2-1, to reach the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Cremonese, which is the bottom of the Italian Serie A, with just 13 points in 28 games, had a slightly longer path in the Italian Cup, as it entered the first phase of the competition, in which it beat Ternana by 3 to 2. Already in the second phase, the team beat Modena by 3 to 2, to face Napoliin the round of 16.
Surprisingly, Cremonese managed to hold the leaders of the Italian Championship in normal time and advance on penalties, to now catch Fiorentina.
The return match is scheduled for April 27, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Artemio Franchi Stadium, in Florence, Italy.
