Oleksandr Usyk expressed confidence that the fight with Tyson Fury will still take place
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk spoke about the failure of the fight with Briton Tyson Fury. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel “Kyivskiy Tort”.
“This fight did not take place for a number of reasons. They could not agree, someone did not agree to favorable conditions for everyone. I believe that the fight with Tyson Fury will take place, but not on April 29, ”Usyk expressed confidence. He noted that while preparing for the fight with the Briton, he significantly improved his sports results.
On March 30, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren called possible options for postponing the fight with Usyk. “Option #1 is if Usyk passes his mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois. Then we will have a chance to fight in Saudi Arabia. The second option is to offer Dubois a compensation, ”Warren said, adding that if the second plan is implemented, the meeting of the boxers could take place in July 2023.
Fury has 33 wins, one draw and no losses. He owns the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight championship belt.
Usyk has 20 wins in 20 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
