It became known about the intention of representatives of the Canadian Hockey Federation (Hockey Canada) and the National Hockey League (NHL) to hold a series of matches against the Russian team. Journalist Aleksey Andronov reported this on his /5450″ target=”_blank”>Telegram channel, citing three independent sources.
According to Andronov, it is planned to arrange three meetings with the participation of Russian players playing in the NHL. The team will be headed by specialists working in the league, presumably Sergei Gonchar, Sergei Brylin and Evgeny Nabokov.
The series will take place no earlier than 2024. The games will be held in Canada, the cities have already been determined. It is specified that the leadership of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation will not take part in organizing these matches.
At the start of the 2022/2023 season, 50 Russian players were playing in the NHL. On February 4, ten of them took part in the League All-Star Game. In particular, the captain of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin, together with his son Sergei, performed a bullet.
