América-MG confirms the sale of Arthur to Bayer Leverkusen, from Germany

América-MG finalized this Monday the biggest negotiation in its history. The club confirmed the sale of full-back Arthur to Bayer Leverkusen, from Germanyand the player signed a contract until June 2028.

Arthur is 20 years old and was trained in the youth teams of América-MG. The wing-back was U-20 South American champion with the Brazilian national team and was present in the last call-up of the main team, made by interim coach Ramon Menezes.

No friendly against Moroccoin Tangiers, Arthur came off the bench in the final minutes to replace Emerson Royal at right-back.

“In addition to remarkable pace, Arthur brings football elegance to the game. He is agile, plays defensively with a clear vision and sets strong attacking accents,” said Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.

The president of América-MG, Marcus Salum, confirmed that the club will keep 10% of Arthur’s economic rights and justified the sale of the young winger to European football.

“Everyone knows that I don’t like selling, but I thought it was important for América. Not only the value, but also the appreciation of the athlete, who would like to play in Europe. He will stay in Brazil until the U-20 World Cup. I wish him all the luck. It’s proof that América has moved on,” said Macus Salum.

Therefore, Arthur will compete at the beginning of the season with América-MG and will be available to coach Wagner Mancini in the first rounds of the Brazilian Championship, Copa do Brasil and Copa Sudamericana. The player leaves the club on May 20, when the under-20 World Cup begins.
