Former player of the Russian national football team Alexander Kerzhakov called the reason for leaving the post of head coach of the Karmiotissa club. His words are quoted by Sports.ru.
Kerzhakov explained his dismissal by an unprofessional environment in the Cypriot team. “The atmosphere that was in the club confused me from the very beginning. But I was completely focused on work and tried to change something, ”he said and added that he made the decision to leave during the break of the last match.
The departure of Kerzhakov became known on April 1. The team emphasized that he left the post of head coach of the team of his own free will.
The Russian coached the team for less than two months. Under his leadership, the club played six matches, winning one, drawing once and suffering four defeats.
Kerzhakov is a three-time champion of Russia with Zenit and the best scorer in the history of the country (the football player has the highest number of goals among Russians in all tournaments – approx. “Tapes.ru”). After retiring in 2017, he coached the Tom and Nizhny Novgorod clubs, as well as the Russian youth team.
