PSG plays poorly, loses to Lyon at home and sees the Frenchman’s advantage diminish

O Paris Saint Germain (PSG) was defeated by Lyon this Sunday afternoon, at the Parc des Princes, by 1-0. The team commanded by Christophe Galtier played poorly, disappointed their fans and saw their advantage in the lead French Championship to decrease.

With the victory of vice-leader Lens over Rennes, last Saturday, the “fat” of the Parisian team at the top of the competition dropped to just six points (66 against 60). First and second place of the tournament will face each other soon, on April 15th.

Still without Neymar, injured, the team had the returns of Hakimi and Marquinhos, who recovered from injury during the FIFA date. Mbappé and Messi were also present, but did not shine. The Argentine was even booed by the crowd before the ball rolled.

PSG will visit Nice next Saturday at 4 pm (Brasília time), before facing Lens. Already deleted from Champions Leaguethe French team only have domestic competitions within reach for the remainder of this season.

How was the game?

PSG started the game with intensity, and Vitinha and Mbappé wasted good opportunities in the first ten minutes of the game. At three, the Portuguese tried a cavadinha, but sent it over. Already at eight, the Frenchman received a letter pass from Messi and ended up taking too much of the goal.

At 17, Lacazette invaded the area, cut Danilo Pereira, but Marquinhos appeared at the exact moment to make the cut. Then, at 35 minutes, Lacazette again appeared close to the goal, but was touched by Donnarumma and collapsed: penalty!

The attacker himself left for the whitewash mark and positioned the ball. He hit cross, low, but hit the post and lost the opportunity to open the scoring.

The match took on other contours from the second stage onwards and Lyon started to offer more danger. With ten minutes, Thiago Mendes reversed the game for Kumbedi, who crossed for Barcola to swing the nets on Donnarumma’s foot.

The team arrived once again at 23, in a kick by Dembélé, who had just entered, in the small area. Donnarumma ended up saving the reflex submission. PSG finally responded at 35, when Hakimi kicked it out with his left leg.
