Khachanov appreciated the conditions for the admission of Russians to Wimbledon

Khachanov said that the conditions for admission to Wimbledon do not differ from the measures at other tournaments

Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov assessed the conditions for the admission of Russians to Wimbledon 2023. His words are quoted by France Presse.

The athlete noted that the restrictions announced by the organizers are no different from the measures taken at other competitions of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). “Neutral status, no flag since the end of February last year, so basically we will just continue to do the same thing that we do at all other tournaments,” Khachanov said. He added that at the moment he has no sponsors in Russia.

On March 31, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which organizes Wimbledon, announced the conditions for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to Wimbledon. Among them was a clause stating that tennis players receiving state funding, which includes sponsorship from companies controlled by the authorities of Russia and Belarus, will not be able to take part in the competition.

In the spring of 2022, Russian tennis players were refused admission to tournaments in the UK. In other ATP and WTA competitions, the Russians perform in a neutral status.
