France became the fourth country to refuse to host a fencing tournament because of the Russians
The French Fencing Federation refused to host the World Cup stage due to the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes. This was reported on the website of the organization.
They noted that the decision was due to the inability to comply with the requirements of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) to ensure the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the tournament. The competition was supposed to take place from 19 to 21 May in Saint-Maur-de-Fosse.
France became the fourth country to cancel the competition after the admission of Russians and Belarusians. Previously, Denmark, Germany and Finland did this.
On March 10, it was reported that the FIE had decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete. The return of the teams to the starts in a neutral status will take place no earlier than mid-April 2023.
