In Ukraine, reacted to the admission of Russians and Belarusians to Wimbledon

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba condemned the decision to allow Russians and Belarusians to Wimbledon

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba reacted to the decision of the organizers of Wimbledon to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players in a neutral status. He spoke about this on his Twitter account.

Kuleba called the participation of representatives of these countries in the tournament immoral. He also called on the UK authorities to refuse to issue visas to players from Russia and Belarus.

On March 31, it became known that the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), which organizes Wimbledon, will allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in the tournament in 2023. It was clarified that athletes will be able to compete in the tournament only in a neutral status and only after signing a “declaration of neutrality”.

On February 18, it was reported that the LTA could be deprived of the opportunity to hold tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women’s Tennis Association if it again bans Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions under its auspices. In addition, the organization was threatened with a fine. Players from Russia and Belarus missed Wimbledon 2022 by decision of the organizers.
