Brazil came close to winning in its tournament debut. The Brazilians faced Ecuador and opened up two goals ahead in the second half, but were leaked twice in the final stretch and, in the 46th minute of the second stage, suffered a draw. Still, they are the leaders of Group A.
Chile is the bottom of the group, but has not yet debuted in the U-17 South American Championship. The team did not play this Thursday, but will not have more interruptions in the games until the end of the group stage.
