Recently speculated at Santos, right-back Júnior Caiçara continues with his future undefined. The 33-year-old defender is out of contract after agreeing to his termination with Turkey’s Basaksehir at the end of February.

With that, he returned to Brazil and is taking advantage of the time to work on athletic improvement, strength and load control at Athletic Force, a gym in Santos that also works with several athletes from Peixe, such as goalkeeper João Paulo and the midfielders Kevin Malthus and Gabriel Pirani, who is currently on loan at Fluminense.

Júnior Caiçara had his name aired at Santos in February. At the time, the winger still belonged to Basaksehir. The board of Peixe came into contact with the club to negotiate a possible signing, but the negotiations did not advance.

To be able to return to play in Brazil, including, the player accepts a salary reduction. In Türkiye, he received around R$650,000.

Caíçara started his career at Santo André. Afterwards, he went through CSA and América-SP. In 2010, he transferred to Gil Vicente, from Portugal. Afterwards, he added passages through Ludogorets Razgrad, from Bulgaria, and Schalke 04, from Germany. Already in 2016, he went to Basaksehir.

In the current season, Junior has 22 matches (13 as a starter) and an assist. Throughout his career, the right-back has 458 commitments and eight balls in the net.
