The International Paralympic Committee will uphold the suspension of Russian athletes
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) will uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes. This is with reference to the statement of the organization reports Associated Press.
The IPC noted that they are not going to return to considering the admission of the Russian and Belarusian teams to the competition for a few more months. “Such decisions are usually made by members of the IPC at the General Assembly. It will meet again in the third quarter of this year,” the organization said.

On March 28, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments.
On November 16, 2022, the IPC suspended the membership of Russia and Belarus. It was clarified that 64 members of the organization voted for this proposal, 39 – against, 16 more countries abstained. In Russia, this decision was called illegal.
